Lock N' Load With R. Lee Ermey - Shotguns

Gunny explores the history of shotguns--from a 17th century Blunderbuss to the modern day, gas-assisted M4 Super 90. Along the way, he "rides shotgun" on a stage coach as he tests a Wells Fargo Coach Gun; fires the groundbreaking shotguns of legendary gun designer John Browning; tests his skeet shooting skills against Olympic Gold medalist markswoman Kim Rhode; and heads to Camp Pendleton to check out the Marines' state-of-the-art shotguns.

I am a very big fan of the shotgun. There is nothing so affordable that provides so much stopping power. A 2 3/4" 1 oz winchester slug makes a permanent wound cavity 6" in diameter by 10" deep. Ponder that for a moment.

6" in diameter? In what flesh?
Sounds pretty nasssstee. I love my 12 ga.'s also but I wasn't aware that they do that much damage........you sure?

Look up brassfetcher and look at what a 12 ga slug does to balistic gel. Box o truth also has some amazing things about slugs. I have seen a deer shot with a slug before, It was ugly.

I've used 12 ga. slugs for deer hunting a lot over the years. They are suprisingly accurate, even out of a smoothbore barrel at modest ranges. The killing power is almost unbelievable.

Well consider yourself lucky that you live where you live...in the lower half of MI where I live (and in other places across the country), slugs are the only option.

Although I don't necessarily see what's wrong with using shotgun slugs to hunt deer...

Fall 1987.

Central Cali Los Padres Forest.

250 pound wild boar.

12 gauge slug at 60 yards grazed chest and broke both front legs.

Finished it with a .45 to the skull.

Tasted great!

Nice, I wanted to go hunting some swine too.
Does it make much a difference between hp slugs and regular? Central Cali huh, you went on BLM or was it some private property? How much was the permit and for how long?

I know a lot of questions huh.....:favorites8:
